We know that we still have long winter ahead and it can be hard to keep going with workout goals. But sometimes, all you need is the right song to give you the push you need to keep at it — no matter what type of training you’re doing!

“Getting on a treadmill or a bike or going for a run is a very solo activity, so having an artist sing to you along the way can be reassuring,” ”Music can help you find your rhythm or help you set your pace.” From motivational lyrics to driving beats and tunes that bring back good memories, it’s no secret that music has power in helping you stay on track.

Listening to music while exercising doesn’t just relieve boredom — it can help improve the quality of your workout by increasing your stamina and putting you in a better mood.

Music distracts people from pain and fatigue, elevates mood, increases endurance, reduces perceived effort and may even promote metabolic efficiency.

One could think of music as "a type of legal performance-enhancing drug."

There are some clear benefits to training with music, which includes:

1. Music is the good kind of distraction. While the study did suggest there's more to it than distraction, working out with music did make participants less aware of their exertion.

2. It ups your effort. Ever been to a spin class, loving it and not getting the same feeling when pedal away on your own? The music, babe.

3. A good beat can help you keep pace. Finding your rhythm while training and keeping a steady pace is easier on our bodies than fluctuating throughout a sweat session. Music makes it easier to keep pace as we instinctively adapt to the BPM of the music you’re listening to.

4. It makes you want to move. People react naturally to music by tapping their feet, nodding their heads and obviously dancing. By tapping into this instinct, you’ll really enjoy moving your body and working out to some killer tunes!
